Pomegranate Granita

pomegranate Granita1

I don’t need a lot to be happy, just few little things. See I have a list of things that make me happy, from Chocolate to Chanel everything is there on it and oh yes if you are thinking about love well that’s mandatory. I am an old fashioned girl, don’t need much, just loads of love, tons of chocolate and lots of gifts… What else do girls want, right?

And in return I will cook you a lovely dinner, or bake you a luscious cake or even better I will make these Granita’s to tell you how much I care.

See I am totally obsessed with granitas, they are just perfection if you ask me.  They are not the indulgence that will make you guilty (OK may be some flavors but not all) and the flavor possibilities are endless. I love these Icy treats, just a little bit of imagination and voila you have a sweet sin ready in no time.

These pomegranate granitas I am sharing today are insanely delicious. You can call these an orchestra of flavors; sweet, salty, hot and sour; a perfect balance of flavors.

I like adding little chili powder to add a little punch but if you don’t want you can leave it out

So if you have not made the list of things that make you happy, go ahead and make it and make these granita’s for yourself and for all those who love you no matter what all you add to your List!

Pomegranate Granita

Total Time: 4 hours

Yield: 4

  • 2 cups pomegranate juice (I use Pom brand)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 3-4 tablespoon sugar (adjust as per your taste)
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup fresh pomegranate seeds (to be sprinkled on top)

  1. In a large clean bowl whisk everything together, except pomegranate seeds. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  2. Pour it into a glass casserole or pie dish and freeze for 3-4 hours or overnight.
  3. Once it is frozen, using a fork scrape the ice and spoon the granitas into chilled glasses or serving bowls. Sprinkle each with pomegranate seeds and serve immediately.

You can adjust the amount of sugar as per your liking. If you want you can use sugar-free sweetener instead of sugar.
