Blackberry Custard

Like when my better half buys me something before me emailing my wish list… I know honey you must be tired of reading them but that won’t stop me from sending you the emails…

Like when my kids clean their room… I know there is always a motif behind… KIDS!!!

Like when my bank sends me a gift for being their privilege customer… Dude, don’t you guys know you don’t send a bill for GIFT!!!

Like when I see blackberries in store in fall!! Oh yes I love surprises…. Good Surprises…


Let me share a beautiful and easy and super quick recipe of the gorgeous Blackberry Custard to enjoy my little blackberry surprise…

This recipe has been adapted from Martha Stewart website, the original recipe is with raspberry but any kind of fresh berries will works perfect for this luscious custard… This is an absolute no-brainer kind of recipe.  Mix all the ingredients, add berries and bake…. A perfect and elegant dessert with no effort!

Blackberry Custard


  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups blackberries (about 6 ounces)


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a 9 inch pie plate add the butter and melt the butter in the oven, about 5-6 minutes.
  2. In a blender combine rest of the ingredients except blackberries and 1 tablespoon sugar . Add the melted butter and quickly blend mixture until smooth, 30 seconds.
  3. Distribute berries evenly in pie plate and pour batter over top. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar and bake until slightly puffed and just set in middle, 20 to 25 minutes. Heat broiler and broil until top is deep golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes. Serve warm.

    Wandered over because Prerna mentioned (and linked to) this custard and it’s no wonder she was raving about it. It looks beautiful :)
