Asian-Style-Chciken-Bowl-3 So from past two days I have been telling myself to fold the laundry that has been adorning the corner of our bedroom. That corner belongs to me, that’s where I sit and read, chat, text, browse internet; that’s my zone, literally. And it has been invaded by the washed but unfolded absolutely raw untouched laundry. Just because I do most of the stuff doesn’t mean I have to do this. Have I ever mentioned here about how much I hate doing laundry? I hate laundry, to be honest I don’t understand the whole laundry science. I mean what it is meant for! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t pay attention it’s that the whole equation of whites and colored and delicate and perm press just puts me off even before I can put my head around it. Well why I am telling you this? Because first you are my friend with whom I can share my thoughts and secondly I need to vent!!

On a totally different not I am also sharing a very easy and delicious Asian Style Chicken Bowls. these are very famous around here, kids love these (all the times), husband devour these and me well I love them too as they are quick and easy and makes my life little less crazy specially on the days when I am juggling the role of mother and wife and driver and chef and specially a laundry doer back to back. Give Mercy Please!

If you want you can add veggies too, sometimes I do too but mostly we like to enjoy these along with some vegetables on side. You can make these with beef or pork mince if you want, here I am using ground chicken. One thing I would like to mention here is to not skip the oyster sauce, oyster sauce really add the special touch. Serve them over hot bowl of rice, some chopped cucumbers on scallion on to… Well the life just became so much prettier!

Asian Style Chicken Bowl

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Yield: Serves 4-6

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Ground Chicken
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Scallions 4-5 stalks, chopped (reserve some green part for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons Sirach sauce (or as per taste)
  • 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Marinade
  • 2 teaspoons minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • Chopped scallions
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 4 Serving of cooked Rice or Noddles

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl add minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, scallion, vinegar, black pepper and sugar to ground chicken, mix well, cover the bowl and let it marinate for 10-20 minutes at room temperature. Preferably for about 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Heat a wok/skillet over medium-high heat. Add the cooking oil, let it heat till you start seeing the smoke, quickly add the marinated chicken. Sauté for 5-7 minutes till the chicken is completely cooked and all the liquid has almost dried out. Make sure to continuously stir the chicken to help it cook even, break any big clumps of chicken.
  3. Quickly add oyster sauce and ample syrup. Cook on high heat for another 2-3 minutes till everything is well mixed. Sprinkle sriracha sauce and sesame oil mix well once more. Remove from heat serve immediately on some hot rice or noodles.
  4. Top with some chopped cucumbers and reserved scallions. Enjoy!

    Vent away my friend! Because I can totally relate to your laundry qualms!! I hate it myself. I mean, from washer to dryer and then folding? Gosh, I have better things to do ;)

    Like devouring this chicken bowl instead.

    I have made this twice already in less than a week. But the second time, I doubled it. Also, if you are watching your salt, this dish is still excellent if you cut the soy sauce and oyster sauce to half and replace the other half with water. Either way though, this dish is super delicious.
